Curtain Pole Store Featured on Peter Andre’s 60 Minute Makeover
As a small family-run business, the last thing we expected in the middle of August 2017 was a phone call from the ITV television studios behind the popular show 60 Minute Makeover, presented by Peter Andre.
The team’s interior designer, Anna Ryder Richardson, had been browsing the Curtain Pole Store website and was impressed with our range of curtain poles. She asked the production team to contact us to see if we could help supply a couple of pole sets for a special home renovation featured on the show.
Naturally, we were delighted to help.
Featured on ITV’s 60 Minute Makeover with Peter Andre
Curtain Pole Store was proud to contribute to several projects featured on ITV’s popular home renovation show 60 Minute Makeover, presented by Peter Andre. The programme transforms homes for deserving families in just one hour, with help from leading interior designers including Anna Ryder Richardson, Ben Hillman and Linda Barker.
Our curtain poles were selected by the design team to help complete several room transformations, demonstrating how the right window hardware can enhance both the style and functionality of a living space.
Helping a Family Who Had Faced Enormous Challenges
The renovation involved a couple who had faced incredibly difficult circumstances. Their young daughter had been diagnosed with leukaemia at just seven years old. Thankfully she recovered, but the family’s challenges did not end there.
While renovating their home, the mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, followed shortly afterwards by the father also receiving a cancer diagnosis. Despite these life-changing events, both parents continued to dedicate their time to raising money for cancer charities.
Their daughter wanted to thank them for their strength and kindness by nominating them for a 60 Minute Makeover surprise home transformation.
We were honoured to contribute to the project.
For the makeover, we donated two Universal 28mm Crackled Glass Curtain Pole Sets in Stainless Steel (300cm). These decorative curtain poles feature elegant crackled glass finials, which add a subtle touch of glamour to a living space.
Anna styled the room beautifully using lightweight pinch pleated curtains in a silver and white pattern, hung from ceiling to floor. The combination of the long curtains and sleek pole design created a bright, airy and modern living room.
Supporting Another Inspiring Homeowner
In September, we were contacted again by the 60 Minute Makeover team to assist with another project. Of course, we were happy to help.
This time the homeowner was a former police officer who had been tragically stabbed in the line of duty. The incident left him with ongoing health issues and forced him to give up the career he loved.
Despite these challenges, he continues to raise money for charity and volunteer within his local community.
A colleague arranged for the 60 Minute Makeover team to surprise him with a complete home transformation.
Interior designer Ben Hillman requested a simple and elegant curtain pole solution. We donated two Speedy 28mm Sphere Satin Silver Curtain Pole Sets (200cm).
These poles feature rounded sphere finials and a clean, minimalist design that works well with many curtain styles. For the makeover, the poles were paired with rich blue velvet curtains, creating a stylish and sophisticated finish suitable for light to medium-weight fabrics.
Solving a Tricky Bay Window Challenge
Our third donation took place in October and involved a particularly challenging window: a five-sided bay window with unusual angles.
Interior designer Linda Barker approached us for help finding a solution that would fit the awkward window shape perfectly. After reviewing the measurements and design requirements, we supplied a bespoke Speedy 28mm five-sided bay window curtain pole kit.
The kit was carefully configured with corner joints to match the angles of the bay window, ensuring a seamless fit.
This makeover was created for Debbie, an incredibly dedicated woman who had spent more than 30 years caring for her son with Down syndrome. During that time she also founded a football club for disabled players, coaching the team, organising events and arranging trips for the members.
Sadly, Debbie suffered a stroke four years earlier and now uses a wheelchair. The 60 Minute Makeover team wanted to transform her downstairs space into a comfortable new living area and private bedroom where she could relax.
For the window, we supplied a satin silver Speedy 28mm bay window curtain pole kit, which was paired with plain cream pinch pleated curtains. The finished installation fitted perfectly into the bay window and allowed the curtains to hang and move smoothly.
